MedWire (5/12, Albert) reported that, according to a review published online in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, “consumption of dairy products, especially those with a low fat content, may reduce the risk for developing type 2 diabetes.” Researchers came to this conclusion after analyzing data derived from seven studies encompassing some 300,000 participants. The study authors theorized that “one possible reason for this could be the high vitamin D content found in dairy products, high levels of which have been shown to reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes in other studies.”
